Brand vs. Brand Identity

Brand and brand identity are often confused as being the same thing. This is not the case. To understand the difference, lets start by asking the questions.

What is a brand?
A "brand is the promise, the big idea, and the expectations that reside in each customer's mind about the product, service, or company."
Alina Wheeler - "Designing Brand Identity"

What is brand identity?
Brand identity is the expression of your brand, both visually and verbally. Brand identity is what will makes your brand, recognizable, meaningful, and memorable to your consumers.

Consumers recognize and feel comfortable with brands they know. They know the brand is reliable, safe, and of high quality because they have seen it, held it, and experienced it. Before long they become loyal supporters of the brand and its promise.

This brand loyalty is a result of a carefully crafted brand identity, and it is extremely important for companies to be successful in an ever growing and completive market.
